Ballet

Brooke is the former studio owner and director of Utah Dance Artists. She majored in ballet at the University of Utah where she received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in ballet with an emphasis in teaching and performing. Brooke has taught ballet, jazz and tap throughout the Salt Lake Valley for the past 17 years and is a former faculty member of Ballet West Summer Intensive at the University of Utah and Ballet West Summer Conservatory in Deer Valley.

Brooke trained under some of the great teachers of our time including founder and director of Ballet West, Willam F. Christensen. She received her first scholarship at age 13 to Brigham Young University's Summer Dance Intensive and became a student at the University of Utah at age 15 as a Ballet West Conservatory student. Brooke's extensive training in ballet, jazz and tap has afforded her many opportunities beyond the classroom and stage. She has danced in videos, TV shows, TV commercials, televised fashion shows and college telecourses. One of Brooke's greatest achievements was serving as Miss Utah 1994-1995, which allowed her to compete in the Miss America Pageant. As Miss Utah, she spoke to children at over 200 Utah schools, traveled to Japan twice as a goodwill ambassador for the state of Utah, and participated in motivational speaking engagements throughout Utah, California, Idaho, Canada and Japan.

Brookel has been a guest teacher for Utah’s Performing Arts High School “SPA”, as well as for several private and public schools. She has choreographed professionally at The Capitol Theatre and Abravanel Hall; serving four years as the official producer and choreographer of the Miss Utah Scholarship Pageant in Salt Lake City. Brookes’s choreography has received first place honors at dance competitions throughout the state of Utah and nationally in Las Vegas, Nevada. She has also choreographed Arts Council Productions for Murray and Taylorsville City. Brooke’s dance and competition expertise has been used in the judging circuit for dance competitions and pageants statewide, as well as nationally in Arizona, Maryland and New York. She continues her training at teaching workshops, national dance conventions and renowned dance studios in Los Angeles and New York City.
