Varsity Ballet - Program Info
Open to Varsity Program Dancers 6th - 12th Grades
The Varsity Ballet Competitive Program is an optional, add-on program for Varsity dancers in the 6th – 12th grades who wish to compete in the genre of ballet and intensify their ballet study with pre-professional training.
Participating dancers are grouped according to ability level with age consideration, as opposed to being grouped by their team participation. Dancers are not required to be on a Varsity competitive team to participate in the Varsity Ballet program. Please consider the level of commitment and financial responsibility that comes with being part of the UDA Varsity Ballet Competitive Program. Not all dancers who audition will make the team.
2024-2025 YEARLY PROGRAM FEE: $850
Amortized over 10 months: $85 monthly (*paid on the 1st of the month from July - April)
This fee covers weekly choreography rehearsal, four local competition entry fees, critique, competition costume, director and manager fees. Rehearsals required from September 2024 - June 2025.

Trial Class
Varsity Ballet Trial Class
Date: Friday, May 10, 2024
- Grades 5th - 7th: 5:00-6:00 pm
- Grades 8th -11th: 4:00-5:00 pm
- In order for dancers to consider the level of the Varsity Ballet program, dancers may attend a trial class.
- The dress code for ballet is a black leotard and pink tights. The cost is $15 per class.
- Advanced registration is required.
Auditions – Mandatory Five Step Process
- 1. Fill out and submit the online audition form
- 2. Submit a $35 audition fee
- 3. Attend the mandatory Varsity Parent Information Meeting : Monday, April 29, 2024 at 8:00 pm @ Draper Studio
- 4. Bring a post-dated check to auditions dated May 22, 2024 - payable to Utah Dance Artists in the amount of $375 for the UDA Competitive Program Summer Intensive.
*This check also serves as a deposit. If your child does not make a team your check will be shredded and if your child makes the team, it will be cashed. If your child decides not to take their place on the team after auditions, there will be no refund on this deposit. Dancers that are also auditioning for the Varsity Program only need to submit one summer intensive check. - 5. Attend Varsity Ballet AUDITIONS Saturday, May 18, 2024

BALLET VARSITY AUDITIONS - Must attend all three auditions
- 9:30 - 11:00 am: Ballet Technique audition ($15 fee) – for level placement in Ballet Intensive
- 11:30 am - 12:30 pm: Pointe Technique ($10 fee) – for level placement in Pointe Technique.
- 12:30 - 1:30 pm: Varsity Competitive Ballet Placement and Pointe Variations Audition ($10 fee) – Dancers do not need to be on a Varsity program team to participate in the Varsity Ballet program.

Additional Information
Classes - Choreography - Fees - Etc
Dancers must add the following additional classes to their weekly schedule:
- Varsity Ballet Rehearsal 1 hours *included in the monthly program fee
- Ballet Intensive (serves as a third ballet class each week) *not included in the monthly program fee and will add an additional 1.5 hours on the UDA tuition scale.
- Pointe Technique *not included in the monthly program fee and will add an additional hour on the UDA tuition scale.
- Ballet Technique - Two 1.5 hour classes required weekly. Can be taken in Draper or South Jordan. *not included in the monthly program fee and will add an additional 3 hours on the UDA tuition scale.
- Charged at the time ballet choreography is learned
- Fee split between all dancers who participate
- If the choreographer adds a prop to the routine, this cost will also be divided among all participating dancers
- Mandatory team photos with Samantha Little Photography
- Dates: August 14 & 15, 2024
- All team members are required to attend group photos and purchase a group photo
- Optional individual dance photography sessions will be offered
- Effective July 1st
- $250 cancellation fee
- Pay all choreography and costume fees
- No refund will be given on past paid monthly fees or tuition
- Pay all administrative fees
