The competitive program provides an avenue for dancers to learn teamwork and good sportsmanship, benefit from "healthy" competition, and to develop stronger performing skills.
Competition Teams have the opportunity to learn choreography from renowned choreographers, compete/perform at dance competitions during January through May, attend National Conventions and participate in extra performances and fundraisers. Dancers who are selected must participate in either the Company Core or Intensive Program while they are a Company member.
In addition to our Competition Teams, UDA offers an Ensemble program for serious, dedicated dancers proficient in ballet. The Ensemble program provides its members the opportunity to work with professional choreographers, improve showmanship and performance skills, experience teamwork and have the opportunity to compete in dance competitions. Unlike our Company division, which is jazz based, Ensemble dancers are not required to enroll in a full set of core classes in the fall session.
Auditions for Company Teams and Ensembles are held in June.
For teams that offer performance opportunites in a non-competitive environment, we invite you to learn more about our PEEPs program, our community performance based groups.
