About Autumn

Autumn Hawkes

Preschool-Kinder Ballet - Assistant Preschool Teacher

Autumn has enjoyed dancing ever since she was a little girl. Her first love was ballet and she studied with the Idaho Ballet Theater throughout her elementary years, dancing lead roles in The Nutcracker, Hansel and Gretel, and Coppelia. In junior high Autumn traded her pointe shoes for ballroom heels and danced competitively with Extreme Ballroom Company for five years, during which time she also used her lyrical training to win the National Youth Cabaret Championship twice. Autumn continued to pursue dance in college and graduated from Brigham Young University with a Dance BA. She spent her years at BYU on the Ballroom Touring Company where she traveled and performed worldwide. She competed with the BYU team at the 2019 British Championships in Blackpool England and came home with the championship title. In college she also placed multiple times in the final division of cabaret at the NDCA National Championships.

Autumn has a passion for teaching and has enjoyed spreading her love for dance to both young and old. She spent four months teaching children in Mexico as part of International Language Programs and her students loved it when she taught them to dance. Upon her return, she spent a year teaching 4th-6th graders at Provo Elementary as part of the after school dance program. She has enjoyed teaching college classes in country dance and social dance as well as latin dancing. Autumn enjoyed studying ballet, tap, and contemporary, among other styles of dance in her college coursework. She is excited to keep learning and broadening her expertise in many styles of dance. Autumn cherishes the joy and success of her students as she helps them reach their goals. As a teacher she loves to help her students not only find joy in dance class, but also joy in life.
