About Leslie
Leslie J
Jazz - Hip Hop - Turns & Leaps - Tik Tok Mini-Sessions
Leslie was born and raised in West Valley City, Utah, but her heart resides in Durango, Mexico. Born into a Mexican family, Leslie struggled to enroll in a dance studio because of her family’s financial position. Although money was an issue, this never stopped her from pursuing her biggest passion: dance.
For the first few years of her life, Leslie learned to dance through YouTube videos or by watching nearby dancers at the park, mall, or other public spaces. She became invested in trying new things. From basic pirouettes to back handsprings, Leslie started off her career through her own personal training.
After many years of self training, her work was put to the test when she tried out for the Drill Team at her high school, Granger High. For four years she competed with her fellow Excaliburs and even led them through their competition season as President her senior year. Alongside Drill, she was also on her school’s Dance Company, Track & Field, Deca, FBLA, MESA, and Scholars Pathway holding a leadership position in each group. Her natural born leadership has taught her a lot about helping those around her succeed all while fighting for her own goals as well.
After graduating high school with a 4.0 GPA and CPA, Leslie decided to continue her studies at the University of Utah. Here, she is working to get a Major in Modern Dance while also working towards her Minor in Entrepreneurship. Leslie has also been given the opportunity to work as an assistant for Epic Dance Drill Cheer as well as a JuntosGlobal Teacher, teaching students in Guatemala, Nicaragua, and Mexico. She is extremely happy and blessed to now be working with UDA as she can share her passion and love for dance with other amazing, talented students.
