Meagan Swenson

Jazz

Meagan is a wife and mother to 4 children! She has been dancing since she was 3 years old. For 19 years she trained in various styles – Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Hip Hop, Lyrical, and Contemporary dance – with several elite dance studios in the Salt Lake City, UT area. As a child, she also trained with Ballet West Conservatory and performed in Ballet West’s “The Nutcracker” for 5 seasons, dancing the role of Clara in 1999, with performances in Anchorage, AK., Ogden, UT, and Salt Lake City, UT. As a teenager, in addition to dancing with her studio company, she had the privilege of touring the United States with LA Dance Magic as a ballet assistant to Cindy Ricalde. During Jr. High and High School she danced with her school’s dance teams, and served as the Drill Mistress for Skyline High School in her sophomore year. Also during high school, she had the wonderful opportunity to travel to different cities in Utah with a group called Christian Dance Artists, sharing values that were important to her through speech and dance. In 2004-2005 she participated in the Junior Miss Scholarship Program (now known as Distinguished Young Women), and was named the Salt Lake County North Junior Miss. Following graduation, she danced on scholarship at both the University of Arizona and Santa Clara University. In the Summer of 2006 she danced professionally with Soul Escape in Dallas, TX. In 2009 she graduated with a BFA in Theatre Arts, with an emphasis in Dance, from Santa Clara University.

Meagan has taught a variety of dance styles – beginners through advanced, ages 3-18. For the past 4 years she served as the owner/artistic director of Studio Fuse in Oregon, prior to recently relocating with her family to Utah county. Her favorite thing about teaching dance is watching each student master new skills and discover their own creativity within the artistry of dance! Her goal is to create a learning atmosphere where every student feels empowered to become their best, comfortable to test their personal limits, and capable to spark their creativity and ignite their potential!
