Risa has been dancing since she was 6. She has trained in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical and hip hop. She was a member of Hillcrest Highschool’s Dance Company and musical productions. She later then studied modern dance her first year in college as a scholarship recipient at the University of Utah and later changed her major to Behavioral Science.
She is now looking to further her education by working towards her nursing degree in hopes that learning about the body will better enhance her love and knowledge for teaching dance. Better yet, she is excited to reach her goal in becoming an Aesthetics Nurse.
Risa has taught jazz and hip-hop for the last 7 years, choreographing solos and group numbers. She loves to work with different formations and timing as well as mentoring young dancers to help them grow.
In her spare time, she takes dance classes at Millennium or online which allows her to maintain her flexibility and mobility. You can also find her at local yoga and barre classes, which she takes to help increase her knowledge of the body which she can then pass on to her students.
