STARS Introductory Competitive Program Info
Open to STARS Program Dancers Kinder - 6th Grade
The STARS Competitive Program is an optional, add-on program for dancers in Kindergarten - 6th grades who wish to compete in the genre of jazz/musical theater/lyrical jazz and intensify their performance study with additional experience on stage through a competition environment.
Participating dancers are grouped according to ability level with age consideration, as opposed to being grouped by team participation.
2022-2023 YEARLY PROGRAM FEE: $450
Amortized over 9 months: $50 monthly (*paid on the 1st of the month from September -May)
The Monthly Program Fee covers two local competition entry fees, competition costume, critique, manager and director fees. Rehearsals required from September 2022-June 2023.
The Monthly Program Fee does not cover technical program tuition and fees, team jacket, group photo shoot, contingency fee, nude leotard, earrings, makeup, dance shoes and tights needed for competition.
Audition Information
AUDITIONS WILL TAKE PLACE AT SOUTH JORDAN STUDIO ON AUGUST 18, 2022
*A minimum of 8 dancers are required to create a STARS competition team. We reserve the right to move dancers to a group outside their age/grade level, depending on audition numbers.
Auditions – Mandatory Four Step Process
- 1. Fill out and submit the online audition form
- 2. Submit a $30 audition fee
- 3. Attend the mandatory STARS Parent Information Meeting at the UDA South Jordan studio on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 7:00pm and the Welcome Meeting on Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
- 4. Attend STARS Competitive Auditions

- Auditions: 5:00 - 6:00 pm
- Check in: 4:30 pm
3rd - 4th graders
- Auditions: 6:00 - 7:00 pm
- Check in: 5:30 pm
5th - 6th graders
- Auditions: 4:00 - 5:00 pm
- Check in: 3:30 pm

Additional Information
Classes - Choreography - Fees - Etc
Dancers must add the required, additional classes to their weekly schedule:
- STARS Competition Team Rehearsal 1 hours
- STARS Performance Rehearsal - Ballet, Jazz or Both *one genre of STARS Performance is required to participate on the competition team
- Required UDA classes for STARS Performance team
- Ballet STARS - must take the paired ballet recital and technique classes (Two - 1 hour weekly classes – One performs in UDA recital, Juniors- Two 1.5 hour weekly classes – One performs in UDA recital).
- JazzSTARS - may either take the paired ballet recital and technique classes OR a jazz recital and turns and leaps class (Two 1 hour weekly classes – One performs in UDA recital, Juniors- Two 1.5 hour weekly classes – One performs in UDA recital).
- Dancers who participate in BOTH - ballet and jazz performance genres are required to take the paired ballet recital and technique classes. *adding jazz classes is optional
- This equates to 4 minimum required hours per week for Kindergarten, Petite & Mini STARS, and 5 minimum required hours per week for Junior STARS. Dancers that participate in two performance team genres add 1 more required hour. Dancers must be accepted to the STARS performance team in order to audition and add the STARS competition team.
- Additional Saturday rehearsals may be added to the schedule during competition season
- The cost of the monthly tuition is figured by using the UDA Tuition Scale
- Charged at the time choreography is learned
- Fee split between all dancers who participate
- If the choreographer adds a prop to the routine, this cost will also be divided among all participating dancers
- Mandatory STARS Photo Shoot: scheduled for Tuesday, August 30, 2022.
- All dancers are required to purchase and be in their team photos.
- The cost of the photo shoot will be applied to UDA accounts on September 1, 2022.

- $210 cancellation fee
- Pay all choreography fees, costume fees, and any paid competition and convention fees

JANUARY - MAY
- $250 cancellation fee
- Pay all choreography fees, costume fees, and any paid competition and convention fees
