Conservatory Juniors
Dancers in the 5th - 7th Grade
YEARLY PROGRAM FEE: $3090
Amortized over 10 months: $309 monthly from July – April
*due on the 1st business day of the month, along with UDA tuition
The Monthly Conservatory Program Fee covers four weekend conventions, three costumes, competition fees for four convention competitions, critique, end of year concert, director, and manager fees.
The Monthly Conservatory Program Fee does not cover tuition, summer intensive, team photos, team warmups, travel bag, choreography, Chuthis. Workshop, makeup, earrings, shoes and tights needed for competition.
AUDITION INFORMATION FOR 2024-2025
- If a dancer’s program participation is exclusive to one program, they should indicate their preference on the audition form (Conservatory or Varsity) and will be considered for that program only.
Auditions – Mandatory Five Step Process
- 1. Fill out and submit the online audition form
- 2. Submit a $30 audition fee through the audition form link
- 3. Attend the mandatory Parent Information Meeting : Wednesday, May 1, 2024 - 7:30 pm
- 4. Bring a post-dated check to auditions dated May 22, 2024 - payable to Utah Dance Artists in the amount of $375 for the UDA Competitive Program Summer Intensive.
*This check also serves as a deposit. If your child does not make a team your check will be shredded and if your child makes the team, it will be cashed. If your child decides not to take their place on the team after auditions, there will be no refund on this deposit. - 5. Attend auditions at Draper studio:

- Select dancers may be asked to attend the audition following their age group. In some cases, the audition following their age group is the following day.

JUNIOR TEAM MEETING for the 2024-25 TEAM and PARENTS
Thursday, August 1, 2024 at the Draper studio
Time: 4:00 - 5:30 pm
*There are 2 mandatory meetings during the dance year.
- Cost: $375 - paid by check at auditions
- Dates: Thursday, August 8 - Saturday, August 10 2024
- Time: TBA
- Cost: $232.50 - charged August 1, 2024
- Dates: Four weeks: weeks of June 17, July 29, August 12 and August 19
- Required Classes: 3 ballet and 2 jazz technique each week (7.5 hours per week)
*The summer technique class schedule will be available at the Parent Information Meeting on Wednesday, May 1, 2024
- Mandatory team photos with Samantha Little Photography
- June 19 & 20, 2024
- All team members are required to attend group photos and purchase a group photo
- Optional individual dance photography sessions will be offered
- Conservatory dancers may register for fall classes during Program Registration between Friday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 29, 2024
- The fall schedule, including the days/times of required technical classes, will be distributed at the Mandatory Parent Information Meeting on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
- A $35 non-refundable membership fee is applied on May 23, 2024 to all returning UDA students.
- The cost of the monthly tuition is figured by using the UDA Competitive Tuition Scale
- Weekly Conservatory Junior class requirements:
- Three – 1.5 hour ballet technique classes
- One – 1.5 hour jazz technique class
- One - 1.5 hour turns and leaps class
- One – 1 hour tap class
- One - 1 hour hip hop class
- One - 1 hour ballroom class
- Two – 1.5 hour Conservatory Junior team rehearsals
- This equates to 13.5 minimum hours per week for Conservatory Juniors.
- Due to competition season, the 1.5 hour Turns and Leaps class will only take place 16 Saturdays from September - May. Tuition for this 16-session class ($186) will be divided over 9 months ($20.66)and added to the monthly tuition September-May. Total monthly tuition will be $392.66 September-May.
- June is a ½ month and paid as a non-refundable deposit upon registering for Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 classes.
- Monthly tuition is due on the first business day of each month, along with the Conservatory Monthly Program Fee
- Add-on ballet classes are for dancers in the 6th – 12th who wish to intensify their ballet training.
- Placement in these additional classes is done by a dancer’s individual dance level – not according to the team they are on. Placements held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Draper studio.
- Dancers may choose to add one or all available classes. Each class added is billed as additional hours on the UDA Tuition Scale.
- Add on Ballet Options:
- Ballet Intensive *adds a 4th ballet technique class each week (placement required)
- Pre Pointe or Pointe Technique *non-performance class (placement required for pointe)
- Pointe Variations *pointe technique is a pre-requisite *Conservatory dancers who enroll in pre-pointe may participate in this class in their technique shoes– this serves as a second weekly pointe class for dancers en pointe.
- Conservatory Ballet Competitive Program *additional program fee – Auditions held on May 18, 2024. Please refer to the program information for Conservatory Ballet.

- Acro/Tumbling
- Collegiate Turns/Leaps/Tricks class (8th -12th grade)
- Dates: August, September, October, November - TBA

- Billed separately from program fees.
- Cost: $500-$700 total for 3 routines
- Split in 5 charges between August, September, October, November, and December
- Competition choreography will be taught during these four months
- UDA Conservatory dancers are required to attend master classes throughout the year
- Class cost is determined by the master class teacher – typically $35-$45 per dancer
- Master classes are not included in the Conservatory program fees
- Accounts will be charged in the rears for master classes - the month following the class
- Master class participation is mandatory, and all accounts will be charged regardless of dancer's attendance.
National Competition: June 28 - July 3, 2025 in Las Vegas, NV
- Required for all dancers on a Conservatory Mini, Junior, Teen or Senior team
- Separate payment schedule will divide payments over several months

- "Starry Night" Performance Fee: $120 - charged with October tuition. *this fee provides four tickets to the Conservatory year-end concert, including HD files of all UDA end-of-year performances
- Contingency Fund: $150 - the contingency fee is collected in two payments: $75 due July 1st and $75 due August 1st. *the contingency fund covers any unexpected costs related to your dancer’s program. Money not used during the year will be credited back to your UDA account on May 1st.
- UDA Company Jacket and Warm Up Collection: 3 Options - Due July 1st *if new to program * *every three years a new style of travel wear is purchased - this is year #3
- UDA Travel Bags: 3 options - Due July 1st *if new to UDA Competitive program
- UDA Competition Makeup and Earrings: $70-80 - Due November 1st *if new to program
- Shoes and Tights: Purchased on your own
- Chuthis. Perspectives: Required convention not included in program fees

Conservatory Optional Routines
Conservatory dancers will have the opportunity to compete additional dances at competition with dancers of a similar age and level. These dances are referred to as "optional routines".
Detailed information about Optional Routines and how they are put together will be further discussed at the Mandatory Parent Information Meeting at the UDA Draper studio on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.
Dancers can be placed in one of the following groups:
- Large Group (a routine with 7 or more dancers)
- Small Group (a routine with 4-6 dancers)
- Trio (a routine with 3 dancers)
GROUP OPTIONAL (7 OR MORE DANCERS) PARTICIPATION COST: $600
This fee is amortized in 8 monthly payments of $75, along with monthly tuition and the Conservatory program fee from September -April. This fee covers rehearsals, costume, competition critique, competition entrance fees and manager fees.
SMALL GROUP OPTIONAL (4-6 DANCERS) ROUTINE PARTICIPATION COST: $680
This fee is amortized in 8 monthly payments of $85, along with monthly tuition and the Conservatory Program fee from September-April. This fee covers rehearsals, costume, competition critique, competition entrance fees and manager fees.
TRIO OPTIONAL ROUTINE PARTICIPATION COST: $760
This fee is amortized in 8 monthly payments of $95 along with monthly tuition and the Conservatory Program fee from September-April. This fee covers rehearsals, costume, competition critique, competition entrance fees and manager fees.
OPTIONAL ROUTINE CHOREOGRAPHY FEE:
A one-time choreography fee will be charged at the time the dance is learned. This fee is split between all dancers who participate in the optional routine. *small group, trio and duet. If an outside choreographer needs to fly in, each dancer may be charged and additional $25-$50 for per diem. If a choreographer adds a prop to the dance, the total cost will be split between each dancer who participates.
OPTIONAL ROUTINE REHEARSALS TIMES:
Dancers who participate must attend all scheduled rehearsals. Rehearsal time and dates can rotate and are held on a weekly basis throughout the fall and winter month, scheduled around UDA technical classes.
