Varsity Seniors

For Dancers in the 9th - 12th Grades

2024-2025 YEARLY PROGRAM FEE: $1680

Amortized over 10 months: $168 monthly from July – April
*due on the 1st business day of the month, along with UDA tuition

The Monthly Varsity Program Fee covers competition fees for 4 competitions, choreography of three routines*, three costumes, critique, end of year concert, director, and manager fees.

The Monthly Varsity Program Fee does not cover tuition, summer intensive, team photos, team warmups, travel bag and makeup, earrings, shoes and tights needed for competition.

*Additional choreography fees may be required for premium choreography.

AUDITION INFORMATION FOR 2024-2025

ALL MANDATORY EVENTS WILL TAKE PLACE AT DRAPER STUDIO

  • If a dancer’s program participation is exclusive to one program, they should indicate their preference on the audition form (Conservatory or Varsity) and will be considered for that program only.

  • Senior Ballet – 3:30 - 5:00 pm
  • Senior Jazz Turns & Leaps – 5:00 - 6:30 pm
Trial Class Registration

  • In order for dancers to consider the level of the Varsity program, two Varsity Senior technique classes will be offered.
  • The dress code for ballet is a black leotard and pink tights and all black attire for turns & leaps. The cost is $15 per class.
  • Advanced registration is required.

  • 4. Bring a check to auditions dated May 22, 2024 - payable to Utah Dance Artists in the amount of $375 for the UDA Competitive Program Summer Intensive.
    *This check also serves as a deposit. If your child does not make a team your check will be shredded and if your child makes the team, it will be cashed. If your child decides not to take their place on the team, after auditions, there will be no refund on this deposit.

SENIOR TEAM MEETING for the 2024-25 TEAM and PARENTS
Date: Monday, June 17th, 2024 at the Draper studio
Time: 6:30 - 7:30 pm
*There are 2 mandatory meetings during the dance year.

  • Cost: $375 - paid by check at auditions
  • Date: Thursday, August 8 - Saturday, August 10 2024
  • Schedule: TBA
  • Cost: $174.38 - charged August 1, 2024
  • Dates: Four weeks: weeks of June 17, July 29, August 12 and August 19
  • Required Classes: 2 ballet and 1 jazz technique each week (4.5 hours per week June), 2 ballet, 1 jazz and 1 choreography review each week (6 hours per week August)

*The summer technique class schedule will be available at the Parent Information Meeting on Monday, April 29, 2024

  • Varsity dancers may register for fall classes during Program Registration between Friday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 29, 2024
  • The fall schedule, including the days/times of required technical classes, will be distributed at the Mandatory Parent Information Meeting on Monday, April 29th, 2024.
  • A $35 non-refundable membership fee is applied on May 23, 2024 to all returning UDA students.
  • The cost of the monthly tuition is figured by using the UDA Competitive Tuition Scale
  • Weekly Varsity Senior class requirements:
    • Two – 1.5 hour ballet technique classes
    • Two – jazz classes (1.5 hours technique and 1 hour turns and leaps)
    • One – 1 hour hip hop class
    • One – 30 minutes strength and conditiong class
    • Two - Varsity Senior choreography rehearsals (one 1.5 hours and one 1 hour)
    • Additional Saturday rehearsals may be added to the schedule during competition season
  • This equates to 9.5 minimum hours per week for Varsity Seniors, which is $294.50 in monthly tuition from September – May.
  • June is a 1/2 month and paid as a non-refundable deposit when you register for Fall 2024 – Spring 2025 classes
  • Monthly tuition is due on the first business day of each month, along with the Varsity Monthly Program Fee
  1. Add-on ballet classes are for dancers in the 6th – 12th who wish to intensify their ballet training.
  2. Placement in these additional classes is done by a dancer’s individual dance level – not according to the team they are on. Placements held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the Draper studio.
  3. Dancers may choose to add one or all available classes. Each class added is billed as additional hours on the UDA Tuition Scale.
  4. Add on Ballet Options:
    • Ballet Intensive *adds a 3rd ballet technique class each week (placement required)
    • Pre Pointe or Pointe Technique *non-performance class (placement required for pointe)
    • Varsity Ballet Competitive Program *additional program fee – Auditions held on May 18, 2024. Please refer to the program information for Varsity Ballet.
  • Collegiate Turns/Leaps/Tricks *adds 3rd jazz technique class
  • Dates: August - TBA

  • Billed separately from program fees, if necessary, for premium choreography
    • Cost: $100-$300 total for 1-3 routines
    • Split in 4 charges between August, September, October, and November
  • Mandatory team photos with Samantha Little Photography
  • Dates: August 14 & 15, 2024
  • All team members are required to attend group photos and purchase a group photo
  • Optional individual dance photography sessions will be offered. All dancers will be photographed individually regardless of the package chosen.
  • "Starry Night" Performance Fee: $120 - charged with October tuition. *this fee provides four tickets to the Varsity year-end concert and HD files of all UDA end-of-year performances
  • Contingency Fund: $100 - the contingency fee is collected in two payments: $50 due July 1st and $50 due August 1st. *the contingency fund covers any unexpected costs related to your dancer’s program. Money not used during the year will be credited back to your UDA account on May 1st
  • UDA Company Jacket and Warn Up Collection: Due July 1st *if new to program * *every three years a new style of travel wear is purchased - this is year #3
  • UDA Travel Bags: 3 options - Due July 1st *if new to UDA Competitive program
  • UDA Competition Makeup and Earrings: $70-80 - Due November 1st *if new to program
  • Shoes and Tights: not included in program fees – Due either November 1st or December 1st
  • Optional Conventions: UDA Varsity dancers will have the opportunity to attend two-three dance conventions during the year – Cost is typically $200-$300 per dancer. These conventions are optional and are not included in your overall monthly fees.

Senior Varsity Competition Team

Varsity dancers will have the opportunity to compete additional dances at competition with dancers of a similar age and level. These dances are referred to as "optional routines".

OPTIONAL PARTICIPATION FEE: $520

Amortized over 8 months: $65 monthly from September – April

This fee covers rehearsals, costume, competition critique, 4 competition entrance fees, manager and director fees.

OPTIONAL CHOREOGRAPHY FEE:

A one-time choreography fee is charged when the dance is learned and split between all dancers who participate. If the choreographer adds a prop to the dance, this cost will also be divided between participating dancers.

OPTIONAL REHEARSALS:

Participating dancers must attend all scheduled rehearsals. There are between 16-18 optional rehearsals throughout the fall and winter months; averaging twice a month. The rehearsal schedule for all optional routines will be available at the first team meeting in June.
